So, since I posted my usual messages to get people out to participate, and NOBODY did, and it's coming up on domain and hosting renewal time, I'm left pondering whether it's worth my effort to continue paying to run this, spending the time annoying people on the other board to come out here and play, etc.

Sure, I get some 'thanks for keeping the Mixits alive' messages once in a blue moon, but I'm seriously doubting it's worth my money and time to run this any longer.

It's now quite a bit beyond our usual sample submission period for the month and not a single sample has been uploaded.
My enthusiasm for this has rapidly deflated as my offer to host Mixits for em411 went ignored after a few initial discussions, the support among the user base there seems to be rapidly falling, etc.

Maybe someone will have input, maybe Mixits will just silently slip away and nobody will notice, which certainly seems to be the case at the moment.

Hey. Well i came along to the site to see if I could do a track this month as i do most months. I havnt actually done one for ages so i suspect the slow ignored death is what will happen.

I would be willing to pay for a year of hosting (as long as its not too much) to keep the site going and we could see if any interest was there.

Send me an email mullet and like i said ill stump up for another year of hosting.

I don't mind paying for it, if people are participating - the thing is, nobody even commented at all on the 'submit your samples' messages or anything - it's like everyone just glosses over the posts.

In the old days, when Mixits were back on the other site, they were featured prominently on the front page. That doesn't happen now, and it's been up to me to post messages to get people involved.. now it looks like nobody pays attention anymore.

It's sad. Mixits are awesome.. but not without participants.

I think em411 is just a bunch of promo posts now. Not really a community anymore :(

I like the mixits, but it is a real bummer when there are only a few of us doing it. It starts to feel like an obligation, more than just a fun time twisting up samples.
If there were more people involved, more people adding samples, and more people commenting on the finished tracks, it would feel a lot better to me.

I would say only keep it up if there is more participation. If people don't appreciate what you are doing, screw them! btw, I totally appreciate what you are doing! :D

KEEP IT ALIVE!!

I think it's sad it's dying on us. I know i'm not the most active member on here, but I love the concept and I think it's fun to work wiv you all. sadly, i'm always too late to post my submission, but i have started a project every single mixit loaded my DAW wiv the samples and such. to be honest, i've got alot of things happening in my life atm, but i'll be more active as soon as things settle down.

i'm thinking we could all pull some strings to keep this alive. i'm all for it!
on the top of my head i have these ideas ..
    Facebook Promo
    Soundcloud Promo
    Reverbnation Promo
    Virb Promo

and so on ... If you don't mind I want to go ahead and start the facebook site and do my bit to get new members. if u need money to keep the domain and hosting + bandwidth, i'm sure we can all chip in a few bucks to make it happen..

I own the domain daily-digital.net where we can move the whole thing if u'd like. i've been thinking alot about what the domain can be used for, and this is one of 'em. daily-digital.net/music .. /photo .. /video .. and so on. a project site. but i'm not able to do this on my own.

best regards, roger

I must say I'm feeling like I just wasted money renewing my hosting for this site.
